How to Regain Access to your Facebook Account
If you are not
using your Facebook account for last so many months or if you lost your mobile
or change your email ID or forget your password still you can regain access
to your Facebook account.
For some reason, If
you have lost access to your Facebook account or your Facebook account has been
hacked, and you are not even aware of it.
You don't even know
if someone has accessed your Facebook account in any way and then made any
visible changes to it; what to do ? today if we haven't done some of the
necessary settings to be notified? Let's do it.
You know when your
account has been hacked when that person starts posting a status in your name
on Facebook or changes your password so that we can't log in to our own
account.
It also happens
that someone has not hacked your account, but you have forgotten the password,
and now you cannot log in to the account with the password.
If this happens,
you can regain control of your Facebook account by taking some steps.
Here we look at the circumstances under which we can lose control of our
Facebook account and how to regain it.
Whatever the
reason, when we can't log in to our Facebook account, we have to make sure that
the accounts is ours, and that can be a challenging task, especially
considering that Legally, a Facebook account can be created with your own name
and surname, just by providing a mobile number or just an e-mail.
To make sure they
are both ours, we have to tell Facebook a unique code sent to that mobile
number or e-mail. Facebook can be made more secure if you reveal both your
e-mail address and mobile number.
This action can be
taken if you have forgotten your password or if someone has deliberately
changed your password and you can no longer log in. Go to www.facebook.com and
have a Forgotten Account? Click on the link. Find your account by entering your
e-mail address or mobile number in the text box.
If you have an
account with an e-mail address or a mobile number on Facebook, Facebook will
give you two options. One, log in to your e-mail account to verify your
Facebook account or get a code on that e-mail or mobile number.
If you don't want
to confuse logging into an e-mail account from Facebook, choose another option
to get the code, "Continue by clicking Continue."
You will receive a
recovery code in your e-mail or mobile; after entering the recovery code on
Facebook's login page, you will be able to choose a new password and regain
control of your Facebook account. If a hacker changes your password and the
e-mail address you provided in your Facebook account, things will get tough.
Usually, suppose a
user changes his address on Facebook. In that case, Facebook notifies him and
verifies that the new e-mail belongs to the same user, which a hacker can
easily do because he has to give the code in his e-mail! However, we can take
some action.
Just like the
e-mail address that you have given yourself on Facebook, the mail comes that
you have changed your e-mail address on Facebook. If any such mail comes to
your notice, take immediate action.
The subject of the
e-mail will usually be Facebook 'Primary e-mail changed to'. The e-mail would
have an "If You Didn't Do This, Please Secure Your Account" link,
which means Facebook allows us to secure the account if we haven't changed the
e-mail address.
But at this stage,
if we can't log in to Facebook, then the matter comes up repeatedly. Recovering
after losing control of our account on Facebook is an even more complicated
process to understand, so it is advisable to use an account keeping method like
'two-step verification.'
Now let's talk
about what to do when our password is forgotten or changed, and we can't access
Facebook from the given e-mail or mobile number?
This is a different
situation, in which the hacker has only changed the password, and now you have
changed the e-mail or mobile number given when opening the account on Facebook.
The following steps can be taken in such circumstances.
'Forgotten Account!'
On Facebook's login page, by clicking on the link, enter the e-mail or mobile
number you have already given to Facebook and click on search. Now in the
dialog box that opens, click on 'Can't access your e-mail account or phone?'
Click on such a link.
Now everything
depends on the system of Facebook! At this point, Facebook may raise its hand,
saying, "Sorry, you can't access your e-mail account, but now we can't
verify your identity."
With this, Facebook
will now take you to a page giving information on what to do, but there you
will see everything written, everything we have done.
But if we perform
this ritual from a PC or mobile, in which we have logged in to Facebook many
times before, then Facebook can give us one more chance.
Accordingly,
Facebook will ask us for our new e-mail address or unique mobile number, on
which it will ask us for some information. Facebook may contact us and ask us
for a copy of a government document as proof of our identity.
Our date of birth
may be asked. Photographs of your friends from Facebook may ask you to identify
five friends. Now Facebook will try to verify your identity in different ways. You
may need to provide the following information for this.
Facebook's new
account does not have the 'Security Question' option, but you can easily set a
new password if your account is old, and you can answer the security questions
you have decided.
You can take
advantage of this feature if you have already selected 'Trusted Contacts.'
Enter a new e-mail address and phone number that you can access and click
'Continue.' Now click on "Reveal My Trusted Contacts" and type the
full name of one of your trusted contacts. If all goes well, a unique security
code will be sent to your trusted contact, which will allow you to retrieve
your account.
Out
of 30 million Facebook users in India, only 15% follow the security rules
strictly. As a result, 20 million users are deprived of security aspects and
loosing their facebook account access. As a result, hackers are the first to
target their Facebook account. So, such cyber attacks can be prevented,
especially if full attention is paid to security. Otherwise you have to struggle
to regain your facebook account at every stage.
